DELTA and Pine Land Company (D&PL) is now planning to expand operations in India.

The company is a global leader in commercial breeding, production and marketing of cotton planting seeds based in Mississippi, USA. It is present in the global cottonseed markets of China, Australia, Europe, South America and South Africa.

D&PL plans to expand its breeding programmes and business to other parts of the country, including possible acquisitions/partnering with local Indian companies.

It has carried on hybrid evaluation efforts in India for three years. Based on these efforts and in line with its global approach to cotton breeding research, D&PL has established a breeding programme in Punjab.

A breeding farm is planned to cover an area of approximately 30 acres and will be operational by the next cotton-growing season. Hybrid evaluation efforts are continuing in the States of Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, a company release said.
