THE State unit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has lined up six major conferences in the next six weeks to discuss issues relating to agriculture, exports retailing and manufacturing.

The first of these conferences, Man'exe-2005 (Manufacturing Excellence), will be held on Wednesday. It will be addressed by Mr C. N. Prasad, President of Sundaram Clayton Ltd (Brakes division), and Mr G. Jagan Mohan, Operations Head of Amara Raja Batteries Ltd.

Announcing the schedule at a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr M. K. Patodia, Chairman of CII (AP), said a day-long conference on `Incubating Agripreneurship' will be held in Guntur on October 29.

The meeting will discuss global developments in agribusiness and deliberate on how to adapt these technologies to Indian conditions. A two-day conference on `Export Excellence' will be organised in Hyderabad on November 8 and 9.

Besides helping the stakeholders build partnerships, the meet will throw light on export opportunities in the ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) region and Africa.

The conference line-up is as follows: Accelerating the business response to HIV/AIDS (November 11); Textiles forum — emerging opportunities, the road ahead (November 24, 25); and organised retail — opportunities in Andhra Pradesh (November 29).

Mr Patodia said CII plans to develop a small and medium enterprise cluster in Hyderabad. This cluster would also include electronics units.

The AP Chapter is drafting vision documents on textiles, industrial potential in Kadapa and export potential in the State.
