Back Rs 400 cr sought for free power in AP

HYDERABAD: The State Government has requested the Centre for a grant of Rs 400 crore to provide electricity to 40 lakh houses under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidhyutheekarana Yojana.

Under this scheme, the services were cleared for 43,36,635 households for which Rs 802.57 crore were sanctioned, according to an official release. The scheme would augment backbone network and erection of 23 units of 33/11 KV substations in mandal headquarters in the next three years.
