Bangalore , Oct 26

WIPRO Technologies said on Wednesday that there was no impact on its customers' businesses owing to the unprecedented rains in Bangalore, which has received over 150 mm of rainfall in the past four days disrupting normal life in the city.

Wipro said in a release that contrary to reports that appeared in some sections of the media, only one of the company's eight facilities in the city - which houses 400 employees out of Wipro's total strength of 13,500 in Bangalore - was affected by the rains.

Dr A. L. Rao, COO, said: "Our immediate efforts have been focused towards ensuring the safety of our employees. On the business and customer front, we invoked the contingency plans as part of our business continuity process early enough, as we anticipated functional disruption due to rains. All key equipment from the affected facility have been safely retrieved and critical communication links have been re-established at other locations. Employees working out of the affected facility have been assigned desks at other locations and work continues as normal."

There was no disruption of operations in any other Wipro facility, the company said.
