Good Shepherd in final

COIMBATORE: Good Shepherd International School sailed into the final defeating Laidlaw Memorial School by 70 runs in the NDCA under-17 inter schools cricket tournament for the Azhar Hassan Memorial Rolling Trophy at the Laidlaw MS grounds at Udhagamandalam on Wednesday.

Batting first, the winner amassed 213 and bundled out its opposition for 143. Jayaram Jayabalan scored a patient 65 for Laidlaw.

Football tournament

The Bishop Ambrose Trophy football tournament for the under-18 boys from polytechnics, higher secondary and high schools and ITIs in Coimbatore, Erode, Nilgiris and Salem districts will be held at the Christ the King Polytechnic College grounds in Othakkalmandapam here from November 23 to 26.

Entries must reach the Physical Director, Christ the King College, Othakkalmandapam, Coimbatore-641 032 (Ph: 2610177, 2610593, fax: 2610366) on or before November 3.

Sub-junior volleyball

The Coimbatore District Volleyball Association (CDVA) will conduct a sub-junior volleyball championship for boys and girls at the Nehru Stadium here on November 10 and 11. The team for the inter-district event, to be held in November, will be selected.

Boys born on or after January 1, 1990 and girls born on or after January 1, 1991 are eligible. Send entries to the Secretary, CDVA, Nehru Stadium basketball complex, Coimbatore on or before November 4.
