Ritwik, Joshna in the fray

MUMBAI: India's highest ranked pros, Ritwik Bhattacharya and Joshna Chinappa, will be seen in action in 62nd CCI-Western India Open squash tournament, co-sponsored by Lifebuoy, from October 29 to November 5.

The total prize money is Rs. four lakhs in this event, conducted under the aegis of Squash Racquets Federation of India (SRFI) and the auspices of Squash Racquets Association of Maharashtra (SRAM).

Ritwik's main challengers include second seed Vikas Jangra, former National men's champion Manish Chotrani, youngsters Bikram Uberoi and Rishad Pandole.

Joshna, the defending champion, has to get past second seed Dr. Deepali Anvekar.

Competitions will be held in 13 categories, including boys' under-19, u-17, u-15, u-13 and u-11.

The girls' sections will have matches in u-19 and u-15, apart from Masters over-35, Veterans over-45, Vintage over-55 and Professionals.

Yusuf Khan, former coach of Indian squash stalwarts Anil Nayar, Fali Madon and Dinshaw Pandole will be the chief guest at the prize distribution on November 5, when the second CCI Squash Academy Awards will be presented. — Special Correspondent
