Two killed in explosion at unit

BANGALORE: Two persons were killed in an explosion at an industrial gas filling unit in Hoskote taluk of Bangalore Rural district on Friday.

The police gave the names of the victims as Venugopal (28), a truck driver from Gauribidanur in Kolar district, and Bachchan (24), a loader at the unit and a native of Orissa.

The police said they are yet to ascertain what caused the explosion at Premier Industrial Gas Agency at an industrial estate in Nandagudi police station limits. The Nandagudi police have registered a case.

Man robbed

Three men barged into the house of B.R. Seetharam Prasad in Subramanyanagar police station limits on Thursday and robbed him of gold ornaments worth Rs. 50,000.

The police said the robbers gagged Prasad, who runs a matrimonial bureau, before relieving him of the jewellery. The incident occurred around 5.30 p.m. at Prasad's house in Rajajinagar. The Subramanyanagar police have registered a case.

Chain snatched

A youth snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 15,000 from a woman in HAL police station limits on Thursday night. The police said that around 7.45 p.m. the youth came from behind and snatched the chain from Selvi (37), a garment factory employee, while she was walking on Shiva Road in Lal Bahadur Shastri Nagar. The HAL police have registered a case.

Two killed

One person was killed in a collision between two trucks on Mysore Road on Thursday near BHEL Circle. The Byatarayanapura traffic police are on the lookout for the driver. In another incident, Ramesh (25) of T. Dasarahalli was killed when the motorcycle on which he was riding pillion overturned on Thursday. The Peenya traffic police have registered a case.
