BANGALORE: The High Court of Karnataka on Friday reserved orders in the Arkavathy Layout case. The State Government, the Bangalore Development Authority and the former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, who is now Governor of Maharashtra, had appealed against a single judge order of April 15, 2005 quashing the acquisition of lands for the layout. While the appellants maintained that there was no illegality in acquiring the lands or forming the layout, the respondents claimed that the Bangalore Development Authority had no power to acquire lands and that the acquisition was discriminatory. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Nauvdip Kumar Sodhi and Justice N. Kumar, which is hearing the appeals, reserved it for orders.
