Back SBI (Kerala Circle) staff assail hasty work on core banking

THE officers and staff of State Bank of India (SBI), Kerala Circle, have assailed the haste with which the core banking system is being implemented in the branches.

SBI Officers Association and State Banks Staff Union, which held a dharna in front of the Local Head Office of the bank here, have warned the management against core banking ending up as a "banking disaster".

The association and the union said in a joint statement that they had, at various stages, brought to the attention of the management that the implementation of the core banking system should be done in such a way that it did not cause any inconvenience to the more than 10 million customers of the bank. But there have been many instances of transactions having come to a halt at branches where core banking had been put in place.
