BANGALORE: A bank employee, G.M. Ramesh, and his colleague, Vanaja, were waylaid and robbed of their two mobile phones and motorcycle by two knife-wielding men near Koodlu Gate in the Madiwala police station limits on Saturday. Mr. Ramesh and Ms. Vanaja, both employees of Vysya Bank, were on their way back home in Channakeshavanagar at about 7.30 p.m., when the two culprits waylaid them and relieved them of their valuables. The two then abandoned the motorcycle about a kilometre away from the spot and escaped, the police said. The victims' bank is located in Bommanahalli. The Madiwala police have taken up a case of robbery. Investigation is on. Another robbery was reported from the Ulsoor police station limits where an electrician, Shahrukh, was assaulted and forced to part with his mobile phone and Rs. 1,200 in cash by a three-member gang the same day. The victim, a native of Pune, was returning to his paying guest accommodation after work and dinner, when the culprits accosted him near Cambridge Layout. They attacked him with a knife before fleeing. Shahrukh is employed at St. John's Medical College, the police said. He was treated at a nearby hospital.
