Back Globalisation and labour policy
Globalisation has completely changed the industrial sector. The results though positive have made little impact on the agricultural sector or the national labour policy. We are often told to emulate the Chinese labour model. But the fact is that in China, labour is mostly of the daily-wage kind, with little or no job security or salary structure. For instance, in the coal industry, anybody can be sent out anytime, and there are hardly any safety measures. With all the benefits for labour in India, no congenial atmosphere prevails. Can we evolve a policy where there is good understanding between the management and the labour force? K. K.
