Volleyball selection trials

UDIPI : The Udupi District Volleyball Association will conduct selection trials to choose the district junior boys' and girls' teams for the inter-district tournament to be held at Mandya from November 18 to 20.

The trials will be held at the Gandhi Maidan, Malpe, Udupi district, on Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. Only those born on or after 1.1.1988 are eligible to take part.

Venue changed

The junior State athletics championship to be held at Mandya from November 11 to 13 will now be held at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore from November 10 to 12.

The venue was changed due to heavy rains in Mandya.

Chess tournament

A three-day State-level chess tournament for boys and girls in the under-12 years age category will be conducted by the Rotary Club, Siddapur-Hosangadi Dist 3180, in association with Chess Association, Dakshina Kannada, at Maharaja Auditorium, Sandspur, Kundapur taluk, Udupi from November 12.

Kabaddi meet

Nearly 40 teams, including a dozen women's sides, from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka are expected to take part in the inter-State kabaddi meet to be held at the Pakkaladka grounds, Mangalore, on November 20. The meet is being organised by Jayashree Friends (Bajal).

Subramanya selected

K. Subramanya, vice-president of the Karnataka State Weight Lifters Association, has been selected as a referee for the World senior weight lifting championship commencing at Doha in Qatar on Wednesday.
