Back World Diabetic Day on Nov 14

KOTTAYAM: All-Kerala Diabetic Club is celebrating World Diabetic Day on November 14 at SH Medical Centre Kottayam with the active cooperation of Novo Nordisk, SH Medical Centre, Nursing School and Kerala unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

The day's activities include awareness programme, doctor-patient interactive session, exhibition and diabetic prevention clinic inauguration. Camps on diabetic and obesity detection, neuropathy and retinopathy are also organised on the day.

In India, diabetes is spreading very fast as a contagious disease and the country has the maximum number of diabetic patients in the world. Forty million people are affected by this dreadful disease. One in every five is a diabetic patient. By 2030, India will have about 80 million diabetic patients, said Dr Chemmanam Varghese, Chairman, Organising Committee.
