ARM, the UK-based semiconductor intellectual property design company plans to double the engineering headcount at its Bangalore design centre, its Chairman, Sir Robin Saxby, said on Friday.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of International Conference on Embedded Systems and Software, Sir Saxby said the company's business is growing twice as fast as it had expected.

The company started operations in January this year after its acquisition of Artisan Components Inc, which had a design centre in Bangalore. It started with 45 engineers here and now has grown to 120, and the company has plans to double it next year, he said. Sir Saxby, addressing the conference said technology product start-ups are set to emerge in India, which would see an entrepreneurial wave in this context.
