Reliance Infocomm's freedom offer

CHENNAI: Reliance Infocomm on Tuesday announced a special "freedom offer," under the pre-paid category, with a three-year free incoming facility.

The scheme will be launched on Wednesday and will be valid till November 30. It comes with a pre-condition. The customer has to purchase an LG-2530 handset costing Rs. 2,888.

A long validity Get Starter Kit (GSK) will be part of the offer, V.G. Somasekhar, Tamil Nadu Circle Chief Executive Officer, told presspersons.

Mr. Somasekhar said top-up vouchers from Rs.10 to Rs.148 were now available, providing full talk-time on the top-up value.

The company was introducing the sachet concept for the pre-paid mobile telephony that would enable its customers to recharge for a value ranging from Rs.10 to Rs.148.

Mr. Somasekhar said the company also introduced two long validity GSKs.

While the Rs. 375 GSK offered six months of incoming free validity, Rs. 660 came with a one-year incoming free validity.

Reliance Infocomm had crossed the one-million subscriber mark, of which the share of fixed wireless phone was 1.3 lakhs.

The second phase of RIM's rollout in Tamil Nadu circle would be completed within a month at an estimated cost of Rs. 1, 500 crores, covering 600 towns and 10,000 villages.

Ajay Awasthi, RIM Business Head of Rest of Tamil Nadu, said the focus was on making available technology at an affordable cost to the unreached.
