PANGEA3, provider of outsourced legal and related services for law firms and in-house counsels, is planning to expand its operations in India and hire 600-700 lawyers and engineers in the next four years to serve domains including patent research and prosecution, contract drafting, document review for litigation and corporate due-diligence.

"The company currently has 40 professionals in Mumbai centre, but we see this number growing to 600-700 lawyers and engineers in the next four years. We plan to expand our offshore operations to multiple cities and are looking at potential locations such as Pune, Delhi and Bangalore. However, we are yet to finalise a location," Mr Sanjay Kamlani, co-founder of Pangea3 told Business Line.

He said the growth in the US market, which spent a whopping $200 billion on legal services last year, was enough to sustain the company's expansion plans. Pangea3 currently has 35 clients primarily in the US and the UK, and is adding 3-5 clients every month.

"Besides Canada, the US and the UK, we are also looking at other markets now. We have a client in Japan, and are speaking to potential clients in Australia and Korea," he added.

Of the 600-700 employees that the company expects to hire, 200 would be lawyers and engineers in the patent space, while the balance would work in other areas.
