Back Trent plans to take Landmark to Mumbai, Delhi

TRENT is looking at expanding the recently acquired Chennai-based book and music store Landmark, to the Northern and Western markets.

Speaking to Business Line, on the sidelines of the Indian Retail Summit, Mr Gaurav Mahajan, General Manager (Buying) Westside Stores, said the company would be opening up Landmark stores in cities such as Mumbai and Delhi in the next five to six months.

Landmark already has a presence in cities including Chennai, Bangaloreand Kolkata. And, Mr Mahajan said that these stores would be independent entities and will have nothing to do with Westside. He also said that the coming months would also see the opening up of four outlets of Westside, out of which two of them would be in tier-two cities such as Jaipur. Mr Mahajan said that the company in terms of location of its new stores would focus on malls, as they generate maximum footfalls.

The company is also going to foray into new categories such as footwear in Westside. "We already offer footwear in some of our stores, but we are now going to expand it in a big way," said Mr Mahajan.

He said that the footwear range would be a mix of its in-house labels as well as other brands.
