Back The secret whispers of each other's watch

Khan was surfing the Web for knowledge on managing waterways to mitigate the impact of floods. Dakshinamoorthy was trying to reconcile his estimates of outgo on VAT compensation. Sridevi was returning from a choir rehearsal...

Just then Jogin reminded them all about the weekly market chat. Log on!

**

Jog: The mood in the market is bullish!

Dax: Chart patterns indicate continuation of that trend.

Kay: Though a corrective phase may be closer on hand.

Jog: As a few index heavyweights will appear weak, I guess.

Sri : Quite a few penny stocks are appearing on the volume charts.

Kay: Over the past few days, yes. Be wary of such stocks!

Jog: Now everybody expects the market to cross 9K.

Dax: Some are even talking of 10,000 before year-end.

Sri : Nifty and Sensex touched new peaks. :-)

Dax: "The savage bull… horns with gold," as in Much Ado About Nothing.

Kay: "Be it on lion, bear, or wolf, or bull, on meddling monkey... she shall pursue it with the soul of love," as in A Midsummer Night's Dream!

Jog: Investment guru Faber says Sensex may cross five-digit figure!

Kay: But again one should be cautious. Now on, it's anybody's guess.

Dax: Anybody has last Monday's numbers?

Sri : SKM Egg gained 3.25% on November 21. Bajaj Auto and Aptech were up almost 2 per cent. Subex System earned a profit of 1 per cent. Mah & Mah, Esab India and Sintex ended positive last Monday.

Kay: Engineering and construction sectors continue to be in the limelight as several companies have announced accretion to order books.

Dax: Thermax may consolidate further on gains as those who missed ABB and Siemens may be eyeing this stock.

Jog: Siemens has gained about 20 per cent in the last couple of days. Fundamentals suggest that it may well retain and build on these gains though in a gradual manner.

Sri : Jet Airways may find more takers; ATF prices have started declining.

Dax: Expect ICICI Bank to be firm in the homestretch to its mega offering.

Kay: Buy stocks from hotel sector. Most companies are doing well.

Jog: How about entering good quality mid-cap and small-cap stocks?

Kay: But buy only those stocks where you can exit at short notice.

Dax: "Keep some state in thy exit, and vanish." Love's Labour's Lost!

Sri : UB Engineering is one such stock. It has recently got an order.

Jog: For the past two days, it is on upper circuit.

Dax: Look at Provogue. Good move possible from current levels.

Sri : It rose more than 30 per cent last week.

Kay: If you're holding Pantaloon, exit soon after the stock goes ex-rights.

Dax: Most likely, the rights issue should open by mid-Dec.

Jog: Viceroy Hotel is another stock that can be bought around Rs 90.

Sri : Downside from this level is minimum as there will be an open offer from ICICI Ventures at Rs 87.50.

Kay: With HC nod on Videocon merger, Videocon Ind and International are likely to show strong movements.

Dax: Ashok Leyland hiked its vehicle prices. Action in the counter is likely. Good buy for the medium-term.

Sri : Tata Steel lagging the market and looks bearish on the chart.

Kay: One could wait before taking any fresh position in the counter.

Jog: Ranbaxy is in the pink of health. Take the 'stock medicine' now!

Dax: When Satyam and Infy rallied, why was TCS left behind?

Sri : Apparently, the current price level is attractive.

Kay: Follow Basant Agro. More action seems to be left in the stock.

Dax: Have you noticed the movement in NEPC Ind?

Sri : It's been constantly up for the last 10 days. Watch the counter!

Dax: "The secret whispers of each other's watch," as in King Henry V.

Kay: Talks of NEPC Micon being taken over by a leading corporate!

Jog: The run should continue for some more time.

Dax: Hindustan Zinc is another counter that has potential.

Kay: Zinc demand is rising at 10-12 per cent annually.

Sri : Infrastructure projects are in progress. So demand will increase.

Dax: Domestic producers are feeling the pressure since the consumers, most of them Government-owned firms, are resisting it.

Sri : But the prices have to keep pace with the rise in global rates.

Kay: HZL has doubled its capacity and all of it will be consumed.

Jog: Binani too stands to gain. Action likely in the medium term.

Dax: "Let there be some more test made of my metal."

Kay: From Measure For Measure! "In measure rein thy joy," let me wish you with Portia's line from The Merchant of Venice. Bye!
