Back Bannari Amman to set up incubator for biotech cos

COIMBATORE: Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT) is planning to set up a technology incubator for biotechnology ventures within its campus. The engineering institute promoted by the Bannari Amman group has estimated the total outlay for this project at Rs 4 crore.

"The idea has been conceived to give more thrust to biotechnology and other agri-related areas for research and development. The proposal has been mooted and we are awaiting the grant from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

"We are expecting to get the 50 per cent grant before the end of this fiscal," Dr S. K. Sundararaman, Director, BIT, said.
