Back Nagarjuna group pays homage to founder

, THE Nagarjuna group has embarked on the path of diversification and Nagarjuna Oil Company and Nagarjuna Power are ready for takeoff, according to Mr K.S. Raju, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director.

He was speaking at a function in the factory in Kakinada on the occasion of 77th birth anniversary of the founder, the late K.V.K Raju.

A statue of the late Paul Pothen, one of the key figures in setting up Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd, was unveiled on the occasion by Dr N.C.B. Nath, one of the directors.

On the occasion, Dr Nath said Paul Pothen was a great visionary and a very simple man. He recalled the role of Paul Pothen in setting up the NFCL.

Mr K.S. Raju said Paul Pothen was his mentor. He said Pothen was the man who had built Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd and Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd from the scratch. "He enabled my father to realise his dream. I am deeply indebted to him," he said.

Long service awards were distributed to 54 employees by Mr Nath and Mr Raju on the occasion. Mr R.D. Mall, Vice-President (Operations), spoke on the occasion.

A Compact Disc, produced by the Nagarjuna group containing information about scientific farming methods, was released by Mr Raju.

The Nagarjuna group is setting up a 1,050 MW power plant in Karnataka at a cost of Rs 4,299 crore and the State Government has approved the power purchase agreements.
