Letters to the Editor
Sharad Pawar's election is one of the best things that has happened to cricket. He is a gentleman to the core; cultured, knowledgeable, and businesslike. All civil servants who have worked with him refer to his anxiety to arm himself with facts and perspectives and his willingness to hear the other point of view. This is the quality badly needed in cricket management. Mr. Pawar should do something about TV coverage. Doordarshan is denying us the pleasure of seeing a match in full. We get to see only the second to fifth ball of an over, the other two being gobbled up by commercials. Finally, the BCCI should treat all associations with great respect. At present, courtesies are extended only on the eve of a Board election. Arbitrariness should give way to genuine consultation.
