BDA begins work on Arkavathy Layout

Work on most of the 22 packages of Arkavathy Layout began on Wednesday. The work by the Bangalore Development Authority mainly concentrated on cutting down dense vegetation in the area. The BDA has also taken possession of over 50 acres of land and paid compensation of over Rs. 15 lakhs, said a BDA official.

World AIDS Day

Association for Voluntary Action and Services (AVAS) and Dwarakanath Reddy Ramanarpanam Trust are jointly organising an awareness programme on World AIDS Day on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Yavanika, Nrupathunga Road. Youth and community leaders from city slums will participate.

The Malleswaram Association has elected M. Prabhakar as its President, J.T Mani as Vice-President, B.V. Achutha as Secretary, A.N. Shivashankar as Joint Secretary and G.A. Harish as Treasurer. A nine-member managing committee was elected.

Music workshop
