Back AMD ties up with agri spot exchange

MICROPROCESSOR company AMD has tied up with National Spot Exchange for Agricultural Produce to provide the latter its Personal Internet Communicators to help connect over 7,500 agricultural produce marketing committees.

NSEAP is India's first and only spot exchange for linking all APMCs. This tie-up will offer a complete, affordable computing solution, including broadband connectivity and pre-installed software to farmers, sellers, traders and buyers in the nationwide agricultural supply chain, according to a release.

This is an extension to AMD's 50x15 vision to enable affordable Internet access and computing for 50 per cent of the world's population by 2015, said Mr Hector Ruiz, Chairman, President and CEO of AMD , who also gifted 200 PICs towards the India programme.

"This pioneering initiative will bring about a sea change in trading of agricultural produce across India," said Mr Jignesh Shah, Managing Director, Financial Technologies as well as of Multi-Commodity Exchange.
