Expo to polish weavers' skills

ANANTAPUR: Zilla Parishad Chairperson G. Thippeswamy inaugurated a five-day exhibition on dissemination of appropriate technology for handloom sector here on Friday. He called upon handloom weavers to hone their skills with the help of modern technology.

Regional Manager of National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) R.K. Punn, stated that the exhibition would be an effort to educate the weavers and create awareness among them on the usage of new technology to improve the productivity as well as the quality of their produce. The weavers would also be explained about different policies and schemes of the Central Government and the modalities to utilise them. It was third such exhibition to be conducted in the State . Puri of NHDC, Lucknow, explained that the weavers attending the exhibition would be taught on the usage of natural dyes, animals and minerals and computer-aided textile designing.
