Ghazipur DM transferred

Ghazipur: District Magistrate of Ghazipur K.M. Pandey has been transferred on promotion. The district witnessed violence following the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.

Official sources said his replacement was yet to be named. The situation was limping back to normality. However, schools and colleges would remain closed till Monday as a precautionary measure. Security personnel continued to patrol the streets of the town while senior police officials were keeping a close watch on the situation. Security had been further tightened in view of BJP president L. K. Advani's scheduled visit here on Monday to offer his condolences to the bereaved family.
