A flower vendor busy making a garland at his outlet in Kochi. With heavy rains lashing Tamil Nadu and other neighbouring States, arrival of flowers in various markets has declined sharply.

As a result of limited arrivals, the prices have shot up. Currently, quality jasmine costs up to Rs 300 a kg, up from Rs 100 a kg a few days ago. Chrysanthemums cost Rs 60 a kg (up from Rs 15) and marigold rules at Rs 70 a kg.
