Baby crocodile rescued

IN SAFE HANDS: The baby crocodile rescued by an activist of People for Animals in Bangalore on Thursday.

Bangalore: People for Animals (PFA), Bangalore, on Thursday rescued an illegally housed baby crocodile from the aquarium at Lalbagh Gardens here.

Thanks to Parameshwar, Divisional Forest Officer, Urban, and Vasanth Kumar, Director of Horticulture, Lalbagh Gardens, it was rescued successfully. Housing wild species in captivity is illegal and prohibited under the Wildlife Act, 1932.

Sharath Babu, senior manager of People for Animals, said: "The five-year-old male marsh crocodile is in bad health. We will be working on it immediately to help it get back to the wild."
