Bangalore: Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has announced that there will be no power supply on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the following areas: Electronics City Phase I and II, Wipro, Infosys, Siemens, Hosur Road, Govindashettypalya, Doddatogur, Chikkatogur, Parappana Agrahara, Basapura, Channakeshavanagar, parts of Bommanahalli, Singasandra, MICO, Central Jail, and Naganathapura.

Pre-examination coaching

Bangalore University Pre Examination Coaching Centre for competitive examinations has invited applications from eligible Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and religious minority communities for free coaching for entrance examinations for Civil Service Preliminary examination to be held in May 2006. Candidates can visit the centre at Central College. Applications are accepted up to December 31, the university said.

Service for disabled

The Government of India's National Programme for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities is functioning in the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital and Research Institute, Byrasandra. Free treatment and counselling is offered. Mentally-retarded and visually impaired persons and those with speech and hearing impairment are treated on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. respectively. Guest lecture

The Surana Postgraduate Centre, Kengeri Satellite Town, is organising a guest lecture by R. Ganesh on "Ethical values in ancient Indian businesses" on Friday at 11 a.m. on the campus. Admission is free.
