WINNERS: N.K. Ganguly, Director General, ICMR, New Delhi, winner of Life Time Achievement Award, at the `BioSpectrum Awards Nite 2005' in Bangalore on Monday.
BANGALORE: Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) Director General N.K. Ganguly and eminent clinical scientist M.K. Bhan were conferred the Life Time Achievement and Person of the Year awards respectively by the magazine "Biospectrum" at a function here on Sunday. Dr. Ganguly and Dr. Bhan, also the Union Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, were honoured for their contribution to the evolution of the biotech sector. While Lotus Labs CEO and Managing Director Sudhir Pai J. was presented with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award , Cyrus S. Poonawalla of Serum Institute of India and Varaprasad Reddy of Shantha Biotechnics jointly bagged the Product of the Year Award for coming out with quadravalent vaccines. In the other categories, pharmaceutical major Biocon won the Best Bio Pharma Company and the Best Bio Industrial Company awards . The panel of jury comprised representatives from all segments, including biopharma, bioagri, bioservices venture capitalists and academics. UNI
