HYDERABAD: National award winning Malayalam filmmaker Jayaraj created a record of sorts canning an entire film in 2 hours and 44 minutes flat at the Ramoji Film City here on Monday. The 1 hour 11 minutes film, `Adbhutham,' stars Malayalam superstar Suresh Gopi and is fourth in Jayaraj's series on the Navarasas (the nine elemental emotions). Shooting began at 11.46 a.m. and as the last shot was filmed around 2 p.m., the entire film crew went into raptures. "This has been one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The film stands a chance of getting into the Guinness Book of World Records for being made in the shortest time ever," director Jayaraj told presspersons. The entire crew had rehearsed for a week before taking the final shot. It wasn't the location of the shooting.
Mercy killing
The film revolving around the theme of euthanasia had another Hyderabad connection. Venkatesh, who died of muscular dystrophy after pleading the Andhra Pradesh High Court in vain for mercy killing, was an inspiration for Jayaraj's story. Noted film producer D. Rama Naidu and Government Advisor, C.C. Reddy were the examiners for the record-breaking shoot.
