THE Ministry of Railways has decided to place orders for wagons with the two public sector units Burn Standard and Company and Braithwaite to help revive the units, the Minister for Railways, Mr Lalu Prasad, said on Wednesday.

Briefing newspersons in Parliament shortly after a meeting with the Left Parties, the Minister said the Railways would write off the penalties for the two companies.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Heavy Industries, Mr Santosh Mohan Deb.

The two units are under the Ministry of Heavy Industries. The Railways were not placing orders with the two PSUs as they were unable to supply wagons for 2003-04 and 2004-05.
