Ensuring visibility

AUTOMOBILE ACCESSORY shops, which fit tinted screens on windshields and windows, are suddenly besieged by customers. The police have said that entirely opaque screens are not allowed under the law. The police want to be able to see into a vehicle without too much difficulty and this means, at least 50 per cent visibility.

To set an example, the Police Commissioner has ordered all police officers to see that their vehicles have screens, if at all, conforming to the rules. Other government departments are to be sent circulars asking for the rules to be followed, we hear.
