Rural development: meet on January 10

NEW DELHI: Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has convened a meeting of the State secretaries on January 10 to review the social security coverage to all eligible poor people under various schemes run by the Ministry.

Reviewing the performance of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) here on Wednesday, the Minister said that funds allotted under these schemes should be effectively and promptly made available to the beneficiaries.

A system of effective monitoring should be put in place and transparency and fairness has to be there at all levels, the Minister said.

Under the programmes social security was ensured to old aged people of poor households.
