SAFE START: Two-wheeler riders take out a `helmet rally' on Monday as part of Road Safety Week observance.
CHENNAI: As part of road safety week programmes, the Chennai Central Regional Transport Office conducted eye camps for nearly 300 drivers on Tuesday. Doctors from the Government Ophthalmologic Institute at Egmore examined the drivers and those who had eye-related complaints were advised to undergo treatment on the second day of the `road safety week' campaign. Regional Transport Officer A. Arumugham addressed drivers and stressed the importance of regular eye check-ups. The office also distributed pamphlets regarding eye ailments and other health problems. They also screened a documentary about responsible driving and following road rules on January 2. At K.K. Nagar, more than 100 two-wheeler riders took out a "helmet rally" at K.K. Nagar on the occasion on Monday. K. Pongiannan, RTO-Chennai West, flagged off the rally from near his office. The rally covered a 5-km distance in Ashok Nagar and K.K. Nagar.
