Back Offer re-called

Mobile operators are falling over one another with such offers as lifetime pre-paid cards, low long-distance calling, cheap SMS and what not. But sometimes this can lead to rehashing old offers. That is what Reliance Infocomm seems to have done while announcing the One Nation STD plan on January 1.

While the Re 1 offer for making STD calls for its pre-paid users was new, that for its post-paid subscribers was announced on September 2, 2005.

The company, of course, was explaining hard that the September offer was earlier available only for corporate customers whereas now even retail users could get on it.

But the September 2 press release, available on Reliance Infocomm's web site, mentions nowhere that the offer was not for all subscribers.

And who tipped off the media about Reliance's re-hash? Blame it on competition.
