Man bludgeoned to death after drunken brawl

BANGALORE: A man with criminal antecedents was bludgeoned to death after a drunken brawl in Subramanyapura police station limits on Wednesday night.

The police gave the name of the dead as Rajendra (25), a resident of Uttarahalli. Around 10 p.m., he came out of a bar with a few people. Following a quarrel, they pushed Rajendra to the ground on Corridor Road and smashed his head with a boulder, the police said. Rajendra, who was arrested in a criminal case, was recently released from jail, the police said.

Falls to death

A labourer was killed when he fell from the second floor of a building under construction at Sannakkibayalu in Kamakshipalya police station limits on Thursday. The victim was identified as A.D. Prabhu (25) of Tamil Nadu. The Kamakshipalya police have registered a case.

Woman ends life

A newly married woman, who was allegedly harassed for more dowry, committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Sahakaranagar in Hebbal police station limits on Wednesday night.

The police gave her name as Latha (23). She had married Ramesh, a Navy personnel, one-and-a-half months ago, the police said. Latha's mother Susheelamma of Basaveshwaranagar has lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Latha's in-laws had been harassing her for dowry. The Hebbal police have registered a case.

Robbed

A software engineer was waylaid and robbed of a gold chain and Rs. 100 in cash by two persons in Mahadevapura police station limits on Wednesday. Rajesh, a resident of Airport Road, has complained to the police that two persons robbed him of the chain.
