BANGALORE: Four new additional judges of the Karnataka High Court were sworn in on Friday morning by acting Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court B. Padmaraj in a packed hall No. 1 on the court premises. The judges are former Law Secretary and Personal Secretary to the Chief Justice Jawad Rahim, Registrar-General of the High Court N. Ananda, B. Subash Adi and A.S. Bopanna. Mr. Rahim and Mr. Ananda are from the Bench, Mr. Adi and Mr. Bopanna are from the Bar.
Ex-Law Secretary
Mr. Rahim was born in 1952 and was enrolled in the bar in 1985. In 1993, he became a District and Sessions Judge. In December 2003, he became Law Secretary to the State Government. He was Chief Judge of the Court of Small Causes and Private Secretary to the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. Born in Belgaum in 1951, Mr. Adi is the only advocate from the district to be elevated as a judge from the Bench. He enrolled as an advocate in 1978. Mr. Bopanna was born in Madikeri in 1959 and enrolled as an advocate in 1984. He has specialised in civil, company and constitutional matters. Mr. Ananda was born in 1953 and enrolled as an advocate in 1977. He joined the judiciary as an assistant public prosecutor in Kolar. He became a District and Sessions Judge and was also presiding officer of the Karnataka State Appellate Transport Authority. He was Registrar Judicial and Registrar General of the High Court. Chairman of the Karnataka State Bar Council A.R. Patil read out profiles of the new judges and welcomed their appointment. The judges of the High Court, court employees, Advocate-General B.T. Parthasarathy, State Public Prosecutor H.S. Chandramouli, presiding officers from the lower courts and a large number of advocates were present.
