Software engineer robbed of cash, phone

BANGALORE: Four men armed with a knife assaulted a software engineer from the U.S. and robbed him of Rs. 9,000 in cash and a mobile phone worth Rs. 11,000 in Mahadevapura police station limits in the early hours of Sunday.

According to the police, the victim, Courtney (25), has come to India as part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations and is visiting his friend near Whitefield in the city.

Courtney, who had dinner at a hotel in Ashoknagar police station limits, took an autorickshaw to return to Whitefield.

On his way back, the four men, who were in a car, accosted him near Rajapalya near Hoodi and assaulted him with a knife before robbing him of the phone and cash, the police said.

Mahadevapura Police have registered a case. Investigation is on.

Cash taken away

Burglars struck at the house of Robert in Yelahanka police station limits and decamped with Rs. 20,000 in cash, Singapore $ 6,000, a digital camera and other valuables.

Prof. Robert, residing in Sahakaranagar, told the police that he had been to Canada and on his return, noticed that his house had been burgled. A case has been registered.

Robbed

Two men reportedly entered the house of Vinod Patrick in Yeshwantpur police station limits in the early hours of Sunday and decamped with Rs. 50,000 in cash and other valuables after threatening the family with a knife.

Patrick told the police that the valuables included a mobile phone and 30 grams of gold. A case has been registered.

Stolen

Valuables worth Rs. 50,000 were reportedly taken away from the house of Jagirdar Devanga in RT Nagar police station limits, according to a complaint from Jagirdar. He said they were not in the house when the incident occurred. A case has been registered.
