Gubbi Veeranna theatre festival

The Gubbi Veeranna All-India Theatre Festival that is on in the city will see a series of plays at the J.S.S. Auditorium, Jayanagar 7th Block, from January 13 to 18. A seminar has also been organised on January 14 and 15 at Nayana, Kannada Bhavan, 10.30 a.m. onwards.

The plays to be staged include Bahadur Maa in Hindi on January 13, Kanan Pisir Japomala, Bengali, January 14, Gotraheen, Bengali, January 15, Maya, Malayalam, January 16, Apsare, Kannada, January 17 and Odakalu Bimba, Kannada on January 18. The plays begin everyday at 6.30 p.m.

The seminar on January 14 and 15 will discuss the present status and progress of national theatre and theatre education and its cultural significance. The seminar will be inaugurated by writer-poet Chandrashekar Kambara. Siddalinga Pattanna Shetty, K. Marulasiddappa and Mukhyamantri Chandru will also speak at the inaugural.

This will be followed by two sessions of the seminar.
