New MTNL plan for Dolphin subscribers

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: After introducing pre-paid mobile connections with lifelong validity, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited has now decided to launch a similar scheme for its post-paid Dolphin subscribers that require just a one-time payment of Rs.800 for a lifelong rent-free post-paid connection.

Starting January 15, "Dolphin Jeevan Sathi" will have the outgoing call rate of 80 paise per minute to MTNL's local network and Rs.1.20 per minute for other local networks, while the STD call rate to all networks will be Rs.2.40 per minute.

All new as well as old subscribers opting for the new scheme will also have to pay Rs.500 as activation charges.

New features

MTNL has also decided to add some new features to its post-paid service that include a waiver of Rs.30 monthly roaming charges; reduction of security deposit for STD from Rs.2,000 to Rs.1,000; and introduction of "half rate period" where call charges within its network will be charged at half the normal rates between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.
