Job fair gets under way in Belgaum

Placement consultants are participating in the programme

Belgaum: The three-day Education-cum-Jobs Fair, "Disha-2006", which was inaugurated at the sprawling Maratha Mandir auditorium here on Friday, provides an opportunity to young jobs aspirants. The programme is being conducted under the aegis of the Rotary Club of North Belgaum.

Visvesvaraya Technological University and the KLE Society have sponsored the exhibition. Deputy Commissioner Shalini Rajneesh inaugurated the event.

Seventeen institutions running educational institutions, besides insurance, hotel management and placement consultants are participating in the exhibition. Prominent among them are ICFAI University; Goa-based International Institute of Advanced Studies and Institute of Hotel and Restaurant Management; Reliance Placement Consultants; Sagar College of Education, Belgaum; KLE Society; Karnataka Law Society; Apt Institute of Management Sciences, Dharwad; ClickJobs.com, Tata AIG Insurance Company; IMSR, Hubli; and Aloha Abacus Learning of Higher Arithmetic, Belgaum.

An added feature is that the Vyakti Vikas Kendra of Bangalore has opened a stall to propagate the Art of Living concept of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Lok Sabha member from Belgaum Suresh C. Angadi complimented the organisers for giving unemployed graduates an opportunity to explore options.
