Team comes first, self can wait

G. Ravi Kiran

Serious students spend days and months locked up in their study rooms and libraries. Since it is a lonesome experience they don't have a fair idea about working in a group. Sometimes, such misplaced notions of studiousness may lead even a bright student to underestimate the importance of team dynamics. The test to performance comes up in the corporate corridors, where team management matters more than any other skill.

Final year engineering students are being taken as trainee software professionals or trainee engineers in corporate firms. They will have to work under a team leader. The new recruit should have the ability to get absorbed into the system smoothly by balancing his roles as a peer worker and as an assistant to the team leader.

Appraisals

If any student cannot come out of the solo mode, not being able to find the rhythm with others, it will affect the chances of his or her career. Considering these factors, the recruiting companies are conducting pre-joining workshop to apprise the recruits about the requirements of the work place. They focus on behavioural pattern, positive attitude, positive thinking, communication, presentation skills and leadership qualities.
