INFOSYS Technologies has expanded its operations in Kerala. It will invest Rs 50 crore in a 1,250-seater campus.

The company was allotted 50 acres of land in the new Special Economic Zone in Thiruvananthapuram by the Kerala Government. `The investment climate in the State has been favourable and in the first phase, we intend to start work on the software development centre upon full clearance from the SEZ," said Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy, Chief Mentor, Infosys Technologies.

In the second and third phases, an additional Rs 100 crore will be invested and the capacity will go up by 2,500 seats, he added. The company currently employs 550 at Thiruvananthapuram.

The company recently announced it would grow its operations in other cities due to paucity of space in Bangalore. On Saturday, Mr N. Dharam Singh, Karnataka Chief Minister, said he would discuss the issue with Infosys' top executives.
