BANGALORE: Three women were robbed of their gold chains, estimated at Rs. 60,000 in as many incidents reported from the city since Tuesday night. Two youths gagged a housewife and robbed her of a gold chain estimated at Rs. 15,000 in Seshadripuram police station limits on Wednesday afternoon. The police said that around 12.30 p.m., the two youths knocked on the door of the first floor house of Baghyamma at Anjaneya Block on 2nd Main, Seshadripuram. As Baghyamma opened the door, they gagged her with a handkerchief and robbed her of the chain. On a complaint by Baghyamma, the Seshadripuram police have registered a case. In another incident, a youth snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 18,000 from Rajalakshmi in Ramamurthynagar police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday. The incident occurred at around 5.30 a.m. when Rajalakshmi was walking towards her house on 4th Cross, OMBR Layout, after dumping garbage in a bin, the police said. The Ramamurthynagar police have registered a case. Two youths, who were riding a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 27,000 from Rajeshwari in Banaswadi police station limits on Tuesday night. The police said the incident occurred at around 8.45 p.m. on 2nd Cross, OMBR Layout, when Rajeshwari was teaching cycling to her son Chirag (7).
Man murdered
An autorickshaw driver was found murdered in his vehicle in Wilson Garden Police Station limits in the early hours of Wednesday. According to the police, around 3.30 a.m., a beat constable noticed the body lying in the autorickshaw at the junction of Siddaiah Road and Double Road. The dead had been identified as Ayub Pasha (32), a resident of Someshwaranagar in Siddapura. The assailants had hit him on the head with an iron rod. Rivalry is suspected to be the motive behind the murder.
Woman ends life
An elderly woman committed suicide by setting herself on fire in Ulsoor Gate police station limits on Wednesday morning. The police gave her name as Shankaramma (78), a resident of Cubbonpet. She doused herself with kerosene and immolated herself near a tap next to her house.
