Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Twenty-three year-old Kalavathi allegedly hanged her three-year-old daughter Varsha Priya to death before committing suicide at her residence in Hanumanthanagar police station limits on Thursday.

The bodies of Kalavathi and Varsha were found hanging from the ceiling by the police, who later recovered a written chit from the spot. Kalavathi had reportedly written that she was loyal to her husband and the latter's suspicions about her fidelity were not true.

The police said a misunderstanding between Kalavathi and her husband might have been the reason for the suicide. Kalavathi's husband was an autorickshaw driver. The couple were married for seven years and had another child besides Varsha.

They hailed from Nagamangala in Mandya district.
