Bangalore: It was a classic gathering at the Spice Vintage car rally at the Yelahanka Air Base here on Sunday with vintage models, including Austins, Morris, Triumph, Wolseley, Packard and Hillman, lining up to woo the car lovers. Spice Telecom, in association with Karnataka Vintage And Classic Car Club, organised Spice Vintage Wheels 2006. The fastest car of the day was the 1961 Jaguar E Type (3800 cc) owned by Ravi Prakash, which completed the lap of 1.25 km in just 47 seconds. The honour of the oldest car of the day, which participated in Spice Vintage Wheels "Open Class in All Categories", went to the 1919 Fiat 501 (1460 cc) also owned by Ravi Prakash. The Fiat 501 also had the distinction of winning the award of the second runner-up in the Vintage Car 1001-2000 cc. The only woman driver in the motorcycle category was Rupali Prakash who bagged the third place in the less than 150 cc category. The Spice Vintage Wheels was flagged off at the Police Grounds (next to Chinnaswamy Stadium) on Mahatma Gandhi Road by Navin Kaul, COO, Spice Telecom, and Air Marshal Bhojwani. The classic limousines passed through Trinity Circle, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Cubbon Road, High Court, Raj Bhavan, Infantry Road, Chalukya Circle, High Grounds, Sankey Road, Mehkri Circle, Hebbal Flyover before reaching Yelahanka Air Base for the final countdown. The event gave the people an opportunity to witness more than 60 timeless vintage and classic models and 25 motorcycles manufactured between 1919 and 1969.
