Carcass and By-products Utilisation Centre inaugurated

NAMAKKAL: Vice-Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai, N. Balaraman, inaugurated the Carcass and By-products Utilisation Centre at the Veterinary College and Research Institute (VCRI) here recently.

The VCRI had established the centre at a cost of Rs. 1.35 crores under the scheme on Establishment of Carcass and By-products Utilisation Centre, sponsored by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Agriculture and the State Government, a release said.

The Vice-Chancellor interacted with the poultry farmers and feed manufacturers. Dean of the VCRI K. Viswanathan presided. Zonal Chairman of National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC) P. Selvaraj was also present.

The VCRI would utilise the centre to impart training on various aspects of carcass utilisation. It would also demonstrate the safe disposal of dead animals and birds and by-products utilisation to livestock farmers, entrepreneurs and others. The centre would be helpful for the students to carry out research.
