Disqualification of Karunanidhi sought

CHENNAI: An advocate has appealed to the Assembly Speaker and the Chief Election Commissioner to disqualify the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M. Karunanidhi from contesting the elections "with immediate effect."

He submitted that "Mr. Karunanidhi be disqualified for his failure to attend the proceeding of the State Legislature for almost four and a half years from the date of his election." He also wanted that the DMK chief be "ordered to refund all the salary, perks, allowances and amenities provided to him in his capacity as an MLA."
