MCH relieved over no new malaria case

    HYDERABAD: The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad has heaved a sigh of relief as not a single case of malaria case has been detected thus far at the slums in Bholakpur in Musheerabad area where several cases of malaria have been reported in the last few days.

    Samples sent for analysis

    In all, 161 cases of viral fever were detected while those with a combination of viral fever with reactive arthritis was put at 51. More than 4,300 persons living in Indiranagar, Gulshannagar, Gangaputra Sangam and Siddiquenagar were screened.

    Health officials said that more than 1,000 blood samples were collected and water samples from 18 different points was collected and sent for analysis.

    The MCH pressed 10 medical teams and two mobile teams to fan out into the area and to conduct health awareness camps.

    Anti-larval operations were carried out in all the susceptible areas. Health staff are on alert.
