Vimala Vasan

Abu Dhabi , Jan. 26

EMIRATES airline will offer services to Copenhagen from October 3. Initially offering four flights a week, the service will increase to daily flights on October 29. This is Emirates' first passenger service into Scandinavia and opens up new connections for business and leisure travellers not just in Denmark, but also in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Baltic area and much of Northern Europe, according to a statement from the airline. Emirates will operate an Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route from Dubai International Airport to Copenhagen Airport. This service will also offer more than 14 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight, which will greatly increase Emirates' services to the region and will supplement the existing freight-only service to Gothenburg in Sweden.

Between February 2006 and the launch of services to Copenhagen in October, the airline has announced plans to launch services to Thiruvananthapuram in India, Abidjan in Cote D'Ivoire (February), Hamburg in Germany, Kolkata in India (March), Nagoya in Japan (June) and Beijing in China (September).

This will mean that by the end of 2006 Emirates will be servicing more than 85 destinations in 57 countries worldwide, thus furthering its position as a truly global airline.
